iBattle Rules

Moving

All movable units can move to an empty adjacent square. The only exception are scouts, who can move along any number of unoccupied squares, like a chess rook.

Attacking

Movable units can move into adjacent square occupied by enemy piece. This is called "attacking".
By default, weaker unit is removed from the board and attacker moves into freed square.
If attacker and defender are of the same rank, then both are removed from the board.
However, some modifications to the rules above are possible, see Rules Modifications.

Game Endings

The game is won by capturing enemy's flag or by forcing them to give up, e.g. by capturing all their movable pieces. The human opponents may choose to give up earlier when the outcome of the battle is clear. In rare cases a tie is possible, that is when both players loose all their movable pieces.

Rules Modifications

  • Reveal Units
By default, enemy units are put back on the board "face down" after a duel. The players must rely on their memory skills to track revealed units.
This makes the game more challenging, though may be a bit difficult for beginners.
As an option, both players may agree not to hide revealed units, by enabling this rule.

  • Remove Bombs
Originally, the bombs may explode as many times as attacked until defused by the miner.
Enabling this rule will make bombs to explode one time only. The bombs will be removed from the board along with their unlucky victim.

  • Range Attack
Enabling this rule allows scout not only to move across number of squares, but to do a range attack as well. You may earn some achievements by taking down enemy flag with range attack.

  • Super Spy
Spy is your only weapon against enemy's Marshall, but still, you have to choose a moment carefully and attack first. Super spy is way more dangerous, since it always kills the Marshall.

  • Active Defense
Normally, if defending unit wins the duel, it stands its ground and doesn't move.
If this rule is enabled, victorious defender is forced to move into attacker's square.

  • Attacker Advantage
This rule gives an advantage to the attacker, meaning that when fighting pieces are of the same rank attacker wins the duel.
